Many Moons and I’m the Ghoul

$1,200.00

An original artwork made with watercolor, acrylic, pens, and colored pencil.

Thinking of Kerry James Marshall’s work, I imagined myself as an “unequivocally black, emphatically black figure.” In a way, I imagined myself as he embodiment of the ghouls that appear in other pieces. The subject as a ghoul, and the ghoul as me. White hegemony tells us to be afraid of Blackness. I am not afraid. I find comfort in depths of me. I find rest and power in my shadows.

16 × 20 inches | 40.64 × 50.8 centimeters
